Lawyers protest proposed district status to Ramgarh
Hazaribagh, Sep 5 (UNI) Lawyers in the district today abstained from duty in protest against the proposed creation of Ramgarh district out of Hazaribagh.
In a rally held by the Lawyers' Association here, it was observed that Ramgarh did not have the infrastructure necessary for it to be upgraded into a district and they held that it was a politically-motivated move taken under pressure.
District Lawyers' Association president Bhubaneswar Prasad said prior to the proposed division, three districts - Giridih, Koderma and Chatra had been created.
The government had taken the decision to upgrade the sub-divisions Ramgarh in Hazaribagh and Khunti in Ranchi into full-fledged districts. This would come into effect from September 12.
So far the state has 22 districts.
