Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 5 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had not made any proper request to the Government for releasing land to them for setting up an Institute in the state.

Talking to newspersons here, he said if they had informed the matter properly to the Government it would release adequate land to them for setting up of the Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST) here. Though they had sent a letter to the Revenue Minister through post, no communication in this regard was received at the Chief Minister's office, he added.

In the past, the central government firms had made such requests directly to the Chief Minister's office and the state had provided land to them, Mr Achuthanandan said, citing the examples of releasing land for constructing airports at Karippur, Kannur and Thiruvananthapuram.

''I feel that there is some ''hasty moves'' taken place in the issue,'' he added.

However, other allegations in this regard was quite ''unfortunate'', the chief minister said and added that he had convened a meeting of ISRO representatives, forest minister and other concerned parties to take a final decision on the issue.
