HVPN advances setting up of nine substations

Chandigarh, Sept 5 (UNI) Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) has advanced the setting up of nine substations of 220 KV, 132 KV and 66 KV levels to further strengthen the transmission network in the State.

Setting up of, 45 new substations of these levels during the next 18 months, at an estimated cost of Rs 802.34 crore, was decided in the meeting of senior officers chaired by Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Power) Ashok Lavasa, here today.

Four new 220 KV substations at Nilokheri, Bhuna, Daultabad and Salempur would be set by the HVPN. The distribution corporations would also set up the substations of 33 KV level separately.

Addressing the meeting, Mr Lasava said the Nigam had already initiated augmentation of 29 substations at a cost of Rs 103.41 crore. In addition, three 132 KV substations and five 66 KV substations are likely to be energised by HSIIDC and private developers during this fiscal year, Mr Lavasa expressed satisfaction on expanded transmission and distribution network which had enhanced the system reliability.

The average transmission system availability in the State, as per Central Electricity Regulatory Commission calculative formulas, during the year 2006 - 07 was 99.62 per cent.

The transmission system availability in the State was more than 99.60 per cent during this year so far.

Managing Director P K Das informed that the Nigam had energized 55 substations and augmented capacity of 100 and 56 substations from March 2005 to August 2007 at a cost of Rs 427.24 crore. The capacity addition had been 2531.7 Mega Volt Amperes. The Power Utilities energised 15 new substations and augmented capacity of 25 existing substations at a cost of Rs 116.14 crore upto August this year.

He further stated that the HVPN had energised 132 KV substation, sector 3, Rohtak and 66 KV substation, sector 38, Gurgaon during the last fortnight.

The HVPN is all set to transmit electricity to be generated at upcoming Thermal Power Station, Yamuna Nagar in the near future, an official release said here today.
