Govt to come up with institute of design for Auto Industry
New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) With a view to give a push to the automotive industry, the Government today said it will set up a national institute of design with the help of private parties.
''An institute of design for the automotive industry will soon come up, for which the government will also invite private players for discussions,'' Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Joint Secretary Surajit Mitra told reporters at the SIAM annual convention here.
He said his ministry has already sent a proposal in this regard to the Planning Commission for Eleventh Five Year plan.
In the first phase, an investment of Rs 100 crore has been embarked for the proposed project, Mr Mitra said.
The institute will provide design support to the industry along with facilitating the companies with an archive of data, analysis and worldwide designs, he said.
