Govt allots Rs 10 cr for wooden chariots in TN
Kancheepuram, Sep 5: The Tamil Nadu Government has allotted Rs 10 crore for wooden chariots at 241 temples in the State, according to Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Director T Pichandi said.
Talking to newspersons, he said wooden chariot would be readied in Ekambarar temple here at an estimated cost of Rs 55 lakh.
Trustees were appointed at 80 temples in the state, he added.
Mr Pichandi said development work was in progress at 500 temples in the state. People should come forward to assist the authorities concerned in preserving the temples, he added.
He said maintenance of elephants would cost Rs 10 lakh in Ekambarar temple and sponsors should come forward to donate.
