Goa teachers to get interest-free loans to buy laptops
Panaji, Sep 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Digamber Kamat, on the eve of Teachers Day today, announced an interest-free loan of Rs 40,000 to teachers for the purpose of buying laptops.
The loan would be made available under the Goa Education Development Corporation Scheme.
Speaking to media persons here today, Mr Kamat said teachers from secondary and higher secondary schools, University and government polytechnics can avail the facility. The loan will be recovered in 100 monthly instalments, and will implemented with immediate effect, he added.
The Chief Minister said the government has also decided to implement Assured Career Progresion (ACP) scheme for school teachers as per a Central Government directive, and the 20 per cent quota of granting selection scale to eligible teachers will be removed. All teachers, after completion of 24 years service, will be eligible for the second upgradation scale.
