Final decision on Comprehensive Social Security Bill likely tomorrow
Bangalore, Sep 5 (UNI) The Centre will take a final decision on the proposed Comprehensive Social Security Bill tomorrow and move it in the Winter Session of Parliament, Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the Bill is aimed to benefit labourers working in unorganised sectors and once the Bill was passed it would benefit over 1.5 crore families of workers living Below Poverty Line (BPL).
Mr Fernandes said the proposed Bill contained provisions for pension death and physical disability benefits. Workers belonging to BPL need not contribute for pension, while workers above BPL had to pay a minimum amount towards pension, he added.
Replying to a question, he said the Left Parties were also taken into consideration and their suggestions were incorporated in the Bill.
