Ex-UP minister surrenders in 2001 rail hold-up case
Varanasi, Sep 5 (UNI) Former Uttar Pradesh minister Om Prakash Singh surrendered before the Railway Magistrate court in neighbouring Chandauli district in a 2001 rail hold-up case today.
Also a former UP MLA and Samajwadi Party MP from Ghazipur district, Mr Singh surrendered before Railway Magistrate N K Pandey at the Mughalsarai railway station.
Later, the magistrate granted him bail.
The Magistrate had recently issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against Mr Singh and 10 supporters for disrupting rail traffic and damaging rail property at Dildarnagar station of Ghazipur district on August 9, 2001 to protest the killing of bandit queen turned SP MP Phoolan Devi.
