Contempt notices to Ramadoss, Venugopal

New Delhi, Sep 5: The Delhi High Court today issued notices to Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss and Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Dr P Venugopal for not following the Court's direction in framing the guidelines for the appointment of a registrar at AIIMS.

Justice Geeta Mittal issued a show cause notice to both the authorities to reply by October 31 as to why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against them.

Dr Manoj Kumar of AIIMS had earlier filed a petition in the High Court that there is no regular post of a Registrar and the present Registrar was appointed on an ad hoc basis.

Justice Hima Kohli in March this year had directed the authorities to frame guidelines within six weeks for appointment of the Registrar. It has been more than five months now and nothing has been done in this regard.
