Crowd erupts in Moti Nagar aganst MCD's sealing drive

New Delhi, Sept 5 (UNI) An agitated mob took to the streets in Moti Nagar area of West Delhi this afternoon, protesting the demolition drive of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Protestors blocked road and smashed window-panes of two DTC buses. Someeven tried to set them on fire but others in the crowd prevented them, according to a senior police official.

''A police Gypsy was also overturned by the rioting mob and an anti-riot vehicle 'Vajra' attacked.'' However, no one was injured, he said.

''Trouble began after local residents protested the demolition drive, calling it preposterous as no notices were served to them.

They also had a verbal duel with MCD officials.'' Later, they shouted slogans against the move and tried to block the road but adequate police presence prevented the situation from taking an ugly turn, he added.

''Continuous vigilance is being maintained.'' UNI
