CM urges parties to partcipate in Indiramma prog

Hyderabad, Sep 05 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today appealed to all political parties in the state to participate in the Indiramma Housing scheme to provide houses to the poor.

In an open letter, the Chief Minister urged the leaders of the parties to come forward with an open mind irrespective of their political affiliation and participate in the programme.

While reviewing the progress on the construction of the houses under the first phase of Indiramma housing scheme and second phase targets with the officials concerened before leaving for Kadapa, he asked the political parties to provide the list of eligible persons for alloting the houses.

As the government was committed to provide houses to all the poor people in the state it had taken up the housing scheme in a big way and proposed to construct 80 lakh houses by the end of 2009.

He said in the first phase of Indiramma housing programme, the government proposed to construct 19 lakh houses and so far construction of 10.50 lakh houses had already been completed.

Another 4.50 lakh houses would be completed by September this year.

He said as announced by the government 15 lakh families would participate in the house warming cermonies on October 2.

Under the second phase of Indiramma housing scheme which started from September one would continue till September 15 and 3500 teams, 21,000 officials and 50,000 non-officials would take part in the programme. The Government proposed to construct 22 lakh houses in the second phase, he added.

He said the government had sanctioned 29 lakh old age pensions during the last three years and decided to extend another 15 lakh pensions in the next year as against 18 lakh pensions given during the TDP regime.

He said political parties in the state should change their attitude towards the government and cooperate with it which was striving for the development of the downtrodden people.
