Chopped body of noted criminal found in paddy field

Bangaon, Sep 5 (UNI) Police today recovered the body of a 35-year-old resident of Qazipur in North 24 Parganas from a paddy field.

The body, which was found chopped into pieces, was identified as that of Sanat Roy, a noted criminal of the area, police said.

''Some miscreants had left the body in the paddy field after chopping him into pieces. His cycle was also found nearby,'' police here informed.

Police have suspected that he was attacked by miscreants when he was returning home late in the evening. ''Gang rivalry might have been the cause for killing,'' police pointed out, The body has been sent for post mortem.

Police have begun investigation, but no one was arrested so far, police added.
