By-poll results show people's faith in govt policies: Mayawati

Lucknow, Sep 5(UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today claimed the victory of Bahujan Samaj Party candidates in two out of three assembly by-elections in the state proved the success of ' Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay' policies of her government.

''Wresting two seats from Samajwadi Party is an ample proof that people of UP were happy with over three-month rule of BSP government in the state,''she said at a luncheon press conference here at her official residence.

Ms Mayawati said the dismal performance of both the Congress and BJP had further driven home the point that these parties had no mass base left with them. ''Speaking further on these parties would be like rubbing salt on their wounds,'' she remarked.

The BSP had won the Farrukhabad and Suar Tanda seats while the the SP could retain only the Gunnaur seat where by-elections were held on August 31.

'' The bypoll result should be an eye-opener for all the political parties in the state,'' she said adding that people were firmly behind the BSP for its pro-people policies.
