BSF barber commits suicide in Kashmir

Srinagar, Sep 5 (UNI) A Border Security Force (BSF) barber committed suicide in the north Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said.

They said barber Sudan Sushil of 33 batallion committed suicide in a BSF camp at Trehgam.

It was not immediately known why the barber took the extreme step, sources said adding police have initiated proceedings under section 174 CrPc.

The trend to commit suicide or kill colleagues by the security forces engaged in counter-insurgency operation has registered an increase during the past few years.

About three dozen security personnel have committed suicide while several others were killed by their colleagues in Jammu and Kashmir during the past two years.
