Banned CPI (Maoist) and JLT exchange fire

Latehar, Sep 5 (UNI) In a bid to show their respective strength, two rival groups of the proscribed CPI (Maoist) and Jharkhand Sangharsh Janmukti Morcha exchanged bullets lasting for about two hours at Aan village under Chandwa police station, about 25 km from the district of Jharkhand today.

Three houses were razed to debris in the gun battle that began at 1700 hrs, a senior police officer said here.

Superintendent of Police Raviant Dhan and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhdeo Oraon left for the encounter site leading CRPF personnel and state police at about 1800 hrs and the firing came to a halt with arrival of the forces, he said.

So far no report of casualty had been received as the search was on, he added.
