Bangladesh High Commission to host Sarat Utsav in Kolkata
Kolkata, Sep 5 (UNI) The Bangladesh High Commission is all set to tickle the tastebuds of Kolkatans come September 7.
It will host the 4-day ''Sarat Utsav'' showcasing culinary delights and the country's rich culture and treasure akin to this part of India.
On offer will be the delectable Hilsa besides sweetmeats, including Rossogollas from Jessore.
The famed handmade Tangail and Jamdani sarees would be the other attractions as will be the Baul folk troupes from Sylhet who will regale visitors ahead of the autumn festival.
''The programme is aimed at fostering bonds between the peoples of the neighbouring countries,'' Bangladesh's Deputy High Commissioner Muhammad Imran told a news conference today.
He said the venue of the festival will be the High Commission's premises.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mayor Bikash Bhattacharjee will open the festival and kins of Bangladesh's national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam residing on both sides of the divide have been invited.
