AMP seeks Parliamentary Standing Committee approval
New Delhi, Sept 5 (UNI) The Government today said the Automotive Mission Plan (AMP) has been placed before the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
''We hope that the report of the committee will further facilitate implementation of the AMP,'' Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Santosh Mohan Dev said at the SIAM Annual Convention here.
The Heavy Industry Ministry has started a dialogue with the concerned ministers, which are required to take action as outlined in the AMP, the Minister said, adding that an implementation committee for AMP is soon be finalised.
The AMP aims at making India a destination of choice in the world for design and manufacture of automobiles and auto components with output reaching a level of 145 billion dollars, accounting for more than 10 per cent of GDP.
It eyes an additional employment to 25 million people by 2016.
''We are keenly waching the outcome of automobile growth in the second quarter. We will certaintly intervene, if need be to sustain the growth and will incentivise exports,'' the Minister added.
