69 Govt school teachers get State Teacher awards on teachers day

New Delhi, Sep 5 (UNI) Delhi Education Minister Aravinder Singh Lovely today honoured 69 teachers of Government schools in the city with the State Teacher's awards on the occasion of Teacher's Day for their meritorious service in the field of education.

The teachers were honoured at a function at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, amid presence of state education secretary, principals of many Government schools and children from several Government schools in Delhi.

Among the teachers honoured with the award was the principal of the Suraj Kanya Shikshalaya Kamal Kanta Jaitley.

The teachers were awarded Rs 10000 in cash, a momento and a certificate.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister announced that the state government would soon recruit 6000 new teachers to fill vacant posts in Government schools.

The Minister said the state Government would soon set up 50 vocational schools in Delhi in collboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry.

He also announced the state Government would start disabled friendly schools in each of the 11 educational districts. He said the syllabi in these schools would be different from that in others schools.

Also, with an eye on the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the government planned to set up one sports schools in each zone in the city to help equip school children for Commonwealth as well as other future games.
