2-day workshop on energy efficiency in Gandhinagar from Tomorrow

Ahmedabad, Sep 5 (UNI) A two-day workshop on ''Raising the Profile of Energy Efficiency in Gujarat'' has been organised at Gandhinagar from tomorrow by the Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA) and United States Agency International Development (USAID).

State Chief Secretary Dr Manjula Subramaniam will inaugurate the workshop while Geda chairman H K Dash, USAID CTO Dr Archana Walia, and Gujarat principal secretary Vijayalaxmi Joshi will address the inaugural session.

GEDA sources informed here yesterday that the objective of the workshop is to raise the profile of on-going energy efficiency initiatives in the state by bringing into sharp focus the Energy Conservation Act-related activities including ECO-III supported programmes being taken up by International Resources Group, New Delhi in collaboration with GEDA and other stake holders.

The workshop will also hold key discussion on recipe for a successful energy conservation action plan with coordinating different state departments, Energy Efficiency Initiatives in SMEs, The Financial Express projects, Energy Conservation building code, Energy Efficiency in Existing Building and Energy Efficiency in Municipal Services.

The GEDA has recently signed a MOU with the International Resources Group (IRP), New Delhi, to officially launch the USAID-India Energy Conservation and Commercialisation project -- ECO III programme in Gujarat.

Secretaries and senior officials from various government departments and Bureau of Energy Efficiency, New Delhi, USAID and other representatives from the industrial sectors and building industry would be participating in the workshop, sources said.
