Woman Sub-Committee constituted at village level in Haryana

Chandigarh, Sept 4 (UNI) Haryana Government has constituted Woman Sub-Committees at the village level for women empowerment in the state and a sum of Rs 3.62 crore is being spent for its various activities during the current financial year.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Woman and Child Development Department said that this sub-committee would work under the supervision of the Gram Panchayat which would present its accounts detail and the details of beneficiaries to the Gram Sabha.

Apart from this, it would supervise the activities of Anganwadi centres and sub-centres, inspect the food items purchased by the Self Help Groups for the children and mothers of Anganwadis and make recommendation for appointment of Anganwadi workers and helpers.

Honorarium of Anganwari workers would also be disbursed by these committees, he added.

He said that each committee would be provided a grant of Rs 5000.

About 6153 village committees had now started functioning in the state, he added.

The spokesman informed that each committee would consists of all women members of Gram Panchayat, three educated adolescent girls of village, President of Mahila Mandal, Chairperson of Self Help Group, War Widow or any educated widow of village, social worker, school teacher, ASHA, ANM, all Anganwadi workers, President of Shakshar Mahila Samooh and Chowkidar of village. Woman Sarpanch or nominated Woman Panch by the Gram Panchayat would be the President and the Anganwadi worker would be the Coordinator of the committee.
