Wanted criminal among 3 held for killing jailor

Lucknow, Sep 4 (UNI) City police today arrested three persons, including wanted criminal Surendra alias Kalia, for the murder of a prison jailor here in 1999.

''History sheeter Surendra Kalia was nabbed along with his two aides, including shooter Avinash Chandra and Dilip Kumar, near Kanyakubja college by the Hussainganj police,'' Senior Superintendent of Police B P Jogdand said here yesterday.

Aware that Kalia used to threaten contractors for projects, a policemen impersonated as a contractor to nab him.

He was also accused in other crimes.

Two vehicles and illicit weapons were seized from the spot.

On interrogation, the accused confessed of having fake bank accounts, comprising Rs 25 lakh and an insurance policy worth Rs 10 lakh.
