Victim says agitators threw stones only after police firing

Khammam, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 4 (UNI) Banotu Moti, who was injured in the police firing at Mudigonda village of this district during the Bhooporatam (movement for house sites) by the CPI(M) last month, claimed before the Justice Panduranga Rao Commission that the agitators hurled stones at the police only after it opened fire.

Six persons lost their lives in the firing.

The Commission, appointed by the State Government to go into the circumstances leading to the firing, was to start the inquiry yesterday. But, it was postponed to today. Counsel for the victims and witnesses told the Commission that neither the place nor the time was mentioned in the summons.

Mr Justice Panduranga Rao heard Moti for over an hour today.
