Tea Auction at Kolkata sees good sale
Kolkata, Sep 4 (UNI) The Tea Auction held here from August 27-29 saw good demand.
In all 68,183 packages containing 21,36,599 kgs CTC tea were auctioned in which mainly local dealers operated on grainer varieties.
Similarly, 7,062 packages containing 1,64,506 kgs Darjeeing tea were auctioned in which the fannings variety was steady with poor flaky sorts being neglected. Major Blender lent good support and UK Continent did selective buying.
About 37,792 packages containing 9,03,770 kgs Orthodox tea saw good demand from CIS and Middle East shippers.Major Blender operated particularly on fannings and local dealers and North India buyers provided good support.
About 27,972 packages Dust tea were auctioned in which Major Blender and Tata Tea provided good support along with Western India buyers operating on liquoring sorts.
