JK: Sales Girl gets justice after 20 years

Jammu, Sep 4: A Sales Girl of Jammu and Kashmir Marketing Federation (JAKFED), who was put under suspension in 1988, has got justice from a Special Tribunal here after a twenty-year-long legal battle, sources today said.

The Judicial Member, J&K Special Tribunal D K Kapoor, dismissing the revision petition filed by JAKFED against the order of the Joint Registrar, observed no substance in the allegation that Ms Asha Koul (applicant) was given independent charge of the prestigious sales vend where confiscated goods were being sold, particularly when there was no such order.

He also noted that the applicant was only a beginner without any special training for sale of such goods and directed JAKFED to pay her salary, allowances and cost of litigation within three months.

Ms Koul was appointed as Sales Girl in JAKFED on February 5, 1987 and suspended on December 4, 1987 on the charges of misappropriation of confiscated clothes at the firm's shop.

After the inquiries conducted by the Joint-Registrar, Co-op Societies, no charges of misappropriation were established against her souces said.
