Kalpakkam, Sep 4 (UNI) Atomic Energy Commission Chairman and Secretary of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Anil Kakodkar today said there should be no conditions from the Nuclear Supply Group (NSG) on the imports of nuclear reactors to the country.

''No post and pre-conditions should be laid and there is a need for clean unconditional exemptions (from NSG guidelines on import of nuclear reactors),'' he told reporters on the sidelines of a graduation function of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Academic Research (IGCAR) here at Kalpakkam, about 75 km from here.

He was responding to a query on the NSG's guidelines, restricting export of such reactors by the 45-member Group, including the US, France, Russia, Australia and Japan.

Reacting to US Under Secretary for Political Affairs R Nicholas Burns' repeated remarks that it was for India to convince NSG members to provide nuclear fuel and light water reactors to the country, he reiterated it was the duty of the US to do so, in the wake of the recently-clinched Indo-US nuclear deal.

''We are holding talks with the NSG in this regard,'' he added.
