Mandal welcomes appointment of Safai Karamcharis in villages

Chandigarh, Sept 4 (UNI) Welcoming the decision of appointment of Safai Karamcharis in Haryana villages, Co-operation Minister Meena Mandal today said that this decision of the State Government would provide job opportunities to more than 11,000 persons belonging to the poor sections of the society in villages.

Giving the details of the decision, recently announced by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at Gohana Rally, Ms Mandal said that this scheme of appointing Safai Karamcharis in villages would be started on October 2 that is on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The State Government would bear an additional expenditure of Rs 45.26 crores annually on this scheme.

She said that under this scheme, one Safai Karamchari would be appointed in a village having population of upto 2,000, two karamcharis in the village having population of more than 2,000, four karamcharis having population more than 5,000 and ten such karamcharis would be appointed in the village having population of more than 10,000. Ms Mandal informed that these karamcharis would be employed in the village where they were residing.
