Kiran Bedi to be honoured with honesty award

Moga, Sep 4 (UNI) Ms Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer has been selected by the Baba Farid Society for the Baba Farid Award for honesty this year.

The award carries a cash award of Rs one lakh, a shawl and a citation.

Ms Bedi will be honoured on the last day of the seven-day Baba Farid Agman Purab on September 23. Sujada Nashin of Rajabpur Baba Rashid Farid will preside over the award ceremony.

Stating this today, Inder Jeet Singh Khalsa, Chairman of the Society said that Ms Bedi was selected for her uprightness, integrity and honesty.

According to him, for the Bhagat Puran Singh Award for humanitarian services, the society has selected two teachers.

They are Mr Ajit Singh a school teacher of Makboolpura in Amritsar and Ashok Gupta a school teacher of Faridkot.

Mr Ajit Singh has been selected in recognition for his work of educating the children of drug addicts. Whereas Mr Ashok Gupta who is also the President of the Faridkot Citizen Forum has been selected as he had adopted 20 orphans of drug addicts.
