Janmashtami celebrated in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Devotees today thronged temples across the national capital to celebrate Janmashtami for which elaborate security arrangements were put in place.

Huge crowds gathered at all major temples, incliding the Laxmi Narayan temple (Birla Mandir), ISKCON and Adhya Katyani Shakti Peeth, from mid-night.

Programmes were held across several localities in Delhi.

Police had made elaborate security arrangements for the day.

Entry into the temples premises was made through DFMDs, installed on gates. Devotees were not allowed to carry handbags, briefcases, parcels or any other battery operated equipment into the temples.

Special traffic arrangements were also made around the temples.

Commuters were advised against using roads leading to the temples to avoid any inconvenience and take alternate routes.

Vehicles were not permitted on Mandir Marg leading to Birla Mandir between Panchkuian Road, Park Street on Kali Bari Marg, Udyan Marg, Peshwa Road and Scindia Road.
