Haryana guidelines for counsels for Supreme Court cases
Chandigarh, Sep 4 (UNI) Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments of the Haryana government have been empowered to chose the law officers or advocates for representing the state in cases before the Supreme Court or before other Courts or Tribunals at New Delhi.
The government has directed them to make the choice from the panel of advocates approved by the government.
While giving this information here today, an official spokesman said that the latest panel of advocates approved and circulated by the government would be available with the Legal Cell, Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi. At the time of filing cases in Delhi, the concerened officials must consult the office of the state Advocate General at Chandigarh.
He said that the counsel so engaged in a case would have to produce a certificate to certify that none of his or her family members had earlier appeared in the the same case from the opposite side. A progress report of each case must be sent to the Legal Cell at Delhi.
The spokesman said that the Legal Cell would send a monthly report regarding the status of all cases at Delhi to the Director, Prosecution at Chandigarh. A conference room at Haryana Bhawan has been made avaliable for conducting consultations with the counsel engaged.
