DaimlerChrysler partners SML for luxury busses in India

Mumbai, Sep 4 (UNI) Germany-based DaimlerChrysler AG, whose subsidiary in India manufactures Mercedes-Benz chassis, said today it has plans to enter into a joint venture with an Indian company Sutlej Motors Ltd (SML) to roll-off their luxury buses in India.

The two companies intend to build luxury Mercedes-Benz buses.

Under the collaboration, the Mercedes-Benz chassis for the buses will be manufactured by Daimler Chrysler India Ltd (DCIL) and the body will be built by SML. Simultaneously, DCIL will handle sales and after-sales of the coaches. The first vehicles will roll off the line in the first quarter of 2008, the company said in a statement here today.

DaimlerChrysler and SML plan to develop their activities which will meet international quality norms in terms of reliability, safety and comfort. Both companies intend to set new standards in the Indian bus segment, the statement added.
