Control rooms set up in J&K to receive compliants against chemists
Srinagar, Sep 4 (UNI) Even though the State Drug and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) has not received any complaints about supply of sub-standard medicines, two control rooms have been set up in Srinagar and Jammu for receiving complaints against chemists and un-licensed shops.
An official spokesman said in a move aimed to ensure supply of quality drugs to the people, the D&FCO has established a telephone help line for the customers.
Anybody having complaint regarding overcharging of drugs, substitution of prescribed drugs by chemists, sale of scheduled drugs without prescription, sale and stocking of expired drugs and physician samples, un-licensed shops, absence of enforcement agency at district headquarters and sale of narcotics, analgesics, hypnotics, sedatives, tranquilizers can register his or her complaint on these numbers during office hours.
For registration of complaints. A complainant will have to ask for registration number and record his or her telephone number also for giving information.
He said the official deployed to record complaints shall pass on the complaints to concerned Assistant Drug Controller who will get the complaints verified and submit the report to Controller Drugs within 48 hours.
Minister of State for Health Peer Mohammad Hussain has recently said there was no case of sale of expired or sub-standard medicines in the state.
He said he fully share the concern of the member on this important issue, which has direct bearing on the life of the human beings.
But, he added, that no case of sale of expired medicines has so far been reported in the state.
The D&FCO has neither received any specific complaint about it nor such cases were found during regular inspections of drug establishments in different parts of the state.
Separate stocking of expired drugs is an important part of the inspection of the drugs establishments, he said.
