Berggruen Holdings to pump in $300 mln in India by 2009

New Delhi, Sept 4 (UNI) Berggruen Holdings Inc (BH), US-based private equity firm, today said it plans to invest 300 million dollars in India over the next two years.

The company, founded by Nicolas Berggruen, is also looking to inject in the booming real estate sector with each investment ranging between 20-100 million dollars.

In the real estate sector, the company will be focusing on developing office and residential spaces.

''India has been a priority market for Berggruen over the last year and essential to our global strategy,'' BH Founder and President Nicolas Berggruen said.

Currently, BH is in the final stages of exploring investments in real estate developments projects in Mumbai, Surat, the NCR and other parts of South India.

''The market in India is ripe for innovative and improved business solutions, our international expertise and experience allows us to differentiate ourselves from competitors in sectors that we invest in,'' he said.

Set up last year, BH has already made investments in six sectors such as education, hospitality, real estate car rental, IT/ITeS and construction equipment rental.

It is also looking at investing in secors like warehousing, retail.
