Srinagar, Sep 4 (UNI) In a joint search carried out by Army and police, 600 kg explosive scrap and two shells of 105 MM were recovered at Khundroo in south Kashmir today.

A defence ministry spokesman said the recovery was made from the house where a villager was killed and six others were injured on Monday.

He said it is also learnt that the individual and two other villagers were employee in the ammunition depot. Despite cautioned by army and police, villagers have been collecting scattered explosive materials to be sold as scrap for monetary gains.

This practice is very dangerous to life with the result people have been losing lives and limbs.

It was again cautioned that villagers around Khundroo must not touch or lift unidentified metal and immediately inform nearest Army or Police post.

About 22 people were killed and scores injured when fire broke out in the 21 field ordinance depot followed by explosions on August 11 forcing thousands of villagers to leave their homes from 15 villages.
