'Too early to talk of AIADMK joining NDA'

Chennai, Sep 3: Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu today said it was too early to think about reviving the NDA's alliance with the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Naidu, referring to reports in a section of the press that the AIADMK was likely to rejoin the NDA in case of snap polls to the Lok Sabha, said ''nothing can be said at this time as the AIADMK is part of the so-called third front.'' The Lok Sabha polls might come any time and the party had sent signals to its cadre to prepare for it, he added.

Mr Naidu, who launched another round of criticism against the Congress and its allies, the Left parties, over the nuke deal with the US, alleged that the Congress and the Left were only enacting a drama on the issue. ''Congress President Sonia Gandhi is praising Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and calling the deal as historic, while the Left is terming the deal as barbaric,'' he pointed out.

He said the BJP wondered how long the Left and the Congress, who were alliance partners at the Centre, would continue the drama.

''Why are the Left not withdrawing support? Why take to the streets to agitate against the deal when the remote control is in your hands,'' he asked the Left parties.

Referring to the twin blasts in Hyderabad on August 25, Mr Naidu alleged that the security of the country was under serious threat.

''The Centre is not ready to take any action against the ultras and is acting as a lame duck only to appease the Muslims,'' he alleged, adding that vote bank politics was at its peak.

He said the executive committee meeting of the BJP would be held in Bhopal from September 21 to 23. Issues like national security and Lok Sabha snap polls would be discussed at the meeting.

On the Supreme Court ruling on Ram Sethu, he said the Centre as well as Union Shipping Minister T R Baalu should stop playing with the sentiments of the people.
