Thousands throng Guruvayur temple on Sri Krishna Jayanti

Thrissur, Sep 3 (UNI) Thousands of devotees today thronged to the Sri Krishna Temple at Guruvayur here to pay obeisance to the Lord on the occasion of 'Sri Krishna Jayanti'.

A special 'Kazhcha Sheeveli' (procession) was performed with three tuskers, owned by the temple, taking out the golden idol of Lord Krishna to the accompaniment of 'panchavadya melam'.

The special offerings of the day were 'neyyappam' and 'palpayasam'.

More than 10,000 devotees partook of the customary feast (pirannal sadya) arranged by the temple authorities.

Cultural programmes and 'sobha yathra' were also held.
