Punjab sanctions Rs 31 crore subsidy under Kanak-Dal scheme

Chandigarh, Sep 3 (UNI) The Punjab government today sanctioned Rs 31.25 crore as subsidy to Food and Supply Department for providing 'Kanak' (Wheat) and 'Dal' (Pulses) to 14 lakh Bluecard beneficiaries under Kanak-Dal Scheme at subsidised rate for the month of August.

According to an official spokesman, the State Government has already set aside Rs 362.07 crore so for the purpose in the current financial year.

The state government has also activated its distribution machinery for ensuring smooth supply of the food articles to the beneficiaries in the month of September. For the purpose, all ration depots have been asked to supply data to the department regarding the residual stock of wheat and pulses by the second of this month, he said.

The ration depot owner would deposit money for September stock in the account of 'PUNSUP' latest by September 7 and lift the stock from respective warehouses latest by September 15. It would be mandatory of each ration depot to start distribution by September 16 till end of this month, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, teams of the Department had conducted more than 1865 surprise raids on various ration depots to check irregularities in the implementation of the Scheme, he added.
