NWKSRTC planning to give ex-gratia to its employees

Sirsi, Sep 3 (UNI) North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) President Ashok Katwe today said that the state government is contemplating of giving ex-gratia to its 24,000 employees very shortly.

Talking to reporters here today that the government has already implemented the 5th Pay Commission to the employees and by this there is an extra burden of Rs 18 crore on the government exchequer.

He said that NWKSRTC was running under a loss when took charge as the President 200 day ago and now it has gained a profit of Rs 12.67 crore upto March, 2007.

Form March onwards to till today the Corporation has registered a profit of Rs 10.67 crore, he said.

To a question Mr Katwe said that the Corporation had signed an MoU with Karnataka State Industries Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC) to upgrade selected Bus stands within the purview of his limits.

For this purposes Hubli, Belgaum, and Haveri have been chosen, he said.

Mr Katwe said that he had taken up development works worth of Rs 1.52 crore in Uttara Kannada district for upgradation, renovation and repair purposes.

As per Nanjundappa report the government has granted Rs 35 crore for the first time to NWKSRTC and in this regard the government has already released Rs 10 crore, he said.
