Hyundai Motor August sales registers 7.7% growth
New Delhi, Sept 3 (UNI) Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer registered a steady increase of 7.7 per cent in its total number of sales to 28,394 cars, domestic and exports combined, in the month of August, 2007 as compared to 26,374 sold in the same period last year.
The domestic sales in August 2007 accounted for 16,138 units while 12,256 units were exported, said a statement.
Exports rose by 19.3 per cent from 10,273 units last year to 12,256 units in August 2007.
Commenting on the sales, Arvind Saxena, Vice-President - Marketing and Sales said ''Hyundai Motor has been able to register steady growth in August as the industry sets up after the slowdown.'' With the festive season round the corner, we expect sales to grow across segments in the coming months, he added.
HMIL is investing to expand capacity in line with its positioning as a global export hub for compact cars. Apart from expansion of production capacity, HMIL plans to expand its dealer network, which will be increased from 183 to 250 this year.
