Hisar, Sept 3 (UNI) Following announcement made by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) have launched the 'Surcharge Waiver Scheme' for domestic consumers in urban areas with effect from September 1, 2007.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of DHBVN said the scheme will remain open up to November 30, 2007. The scheme would be applicable to only those connected and disconnected consumers who were defaulters on March 31, 2007 and continue as such. Cent per cent surcharge of such consumers would be waived off on liquidation of total outstanding principal amount in lump-sum or in six equal monthly installments. However, the surcharge would be waived off after the entire overdue principal amount is paid and provided there is no default in payment of any further current dues.

He said that the defaulter consumers whose cases are pending in courts will not be covered under this scheme.

In case of disconnected consumers, reconnection would be made on the payment of the outstanding principal amount; however, there should not be default in payment of any further current dues. Such consumers shall have to pay reconnection charges and other charges as per prevailing instructions of DHBVN and UHBVN.
