Chinese delegation meets Haryana Agri minister

Chandigarh, Sept 3 (UNI) Haryana Agriculture Minister H S Chatha today stressed the need for exchange of scientific technology and know-how, post harvest management, organic production of crops and fruits with the Government of Heilongjiangs (China).

These views were expressed by Mr Chatha while addressing a seven member Chinese Delegation led by Chairman of Heilongjiangs Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Julu here.

Mr Chatha told the delegation that the state was the second largest food grain producer in the country and ranks second in terms of per capita. He said that Haryana was the largest manufacturers of cars, motor cycles and scooters in India and third largest exporter of software from India.

While addressing the delegation Haryana Chief Secretary Promilla Issar said that Haryana was one of the most industrialised states in the country. She said that largest special economic zone (SEZ) was being set up in the state besides a Nano Technology Park over 4000 acres of land would also be setup in Panchkula.

She said that a petro chemical hub was also being set up at Panipat on 1600 acres of land at a cost of Rs 40,000 crore.

The Chief Secretary said that Haryana was a hub of information technology, textiles and auto-component manufacturing in the country. Exports from the state had touched Rs 25,000 crore.

Mr Wang Julu appreciated Haryana for developing a comprehensive infrastructure in the State. He invited Mr Chatha to China to attend an International Conference this month.

While referring to Heilongjiangs, he said that it was situated in the North East of China and the state was interested in mutual cooperation with Haryana.

Mr Julu said that the Heilongjiang was the largest producer in forestry. He said that the province had also improved the infrastructure as 14 cities of the province had airline connectivity and by the year 2020 all villages would be connected with highways.

He stressed the need to have mutual cooperation in the field of information technology with Haryana. He apprised that the main exports from the province were garments, shoes and electrical machinery.
