Guwahati, Sept 3 (UNI) Assam police today released the photographs of two prime suspects, believed to be ULFA cadres, in the September one blast in the city.

A powerful blast had rocked the Bamunimaidam area of the city just before noon on Saturday, leaving one person dead and more than 12 wounded.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Kumar informed that the two suspects had been identified on the basis of interrogation of the three people picked up yesterday.

The explosive was planted in an auto van which was reduced to pieces.

The SSP said the owner of the van has been identified as one Kamaleswar Das (21) and the driver was one Jonjyoti Sharma.

Das had bought the auto van in Nalbari in lower Assam about a fortnight ago and left it there. He returned on August 31 with Jonjyoti and employed him as the driver. They fitted the bomb at Nalbari itself and left for Guwahati on September one morning.

They parked the auto van at the blast spot at about 1130 hrs and the bomb went off after 15 minutes.

Both are residents of Krishna Nagar locality in Japorigog area under Dispur police station of the city.

Mr Kumar said the duo was absconding and their photographs have been circulated. Police suspect them to be ULFA members.
