Animal activist decries ill-treatment on dogs
Aizawl, Sep 3 (UNI) Animal rights activist N W Laldingliana today condemned the manner in which dogs are butchered.
Mizoram Chapter of People for Animals President Laldingliana said here that he had filed a complaint, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, against the ill-treatment meted out to dogs.
In his complaint, he stated that dogs were forced into sacks, handled roughly and mouths were gagged before being butchered in dog meat shops.
Animal Welfare Board of India secretary and PFA Northeast chairperson Goswami will also visit Mizoram to promote animal rights awareness.
Mr Laldingliana had made headlines in 2005 when he made an extraordinary effort offering his body for the feast of wild animals after he died.
