4 more killed in rain-related incidents in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Sep 3 (UNI) Four more lives were lost in separate rain-related incidents in Rajasthan in the past 24 hours, taking the toll in the current monsoon season in the state to 59.

According to police sources, two people, including a woman, were washed away in a flash flood at a picnic spot at Bhanwar Kunj on Chambal river in Kota yesterday. While the body of the woman was fished out from the river, the search was on for the body of the other person. The district administration had saved five people in a rescue operation.

In another incident, two people were killed after they were struck by lightning in Bhilwara district last night. A 50-year-old woman of Bharlia village near Shambugarh succumbed to their injuries after she fell prey to lightning while working in her farm.

Twelve-year-old Rattanlal of Raida village under Karoyi police station was also killed by lightning.

According to the met office, the south-west monsoon in the state seems to be weakening. In the past 24 hours, Bharoi in Rajsamand reported 60mm, Malsisar in Jhunjhunu recorded 24 mm, Bhopalsagar in Chittorgarh 28 mm, Chittor 22mm, Bijoliya in Bhilwara 35, Hamergarh 25, Wyawar in Ajmer district 24 mm, Dhariaward and Girva in Udaipur recorded 31 and 20 mm of rainfall.

The met office has forecast rain in some places in the state in the next 24 hours.
