Sudarshan Patnaik wins Germany festival prize

Puri, Sep 2 (UNI) World renowned sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik has won the first prize in the last International Ruhr Sand festival held in Germany.

Mr Patnaik's creation, a 15-foot-high See King ''king of the Meere'' by the side of the lake Kemnader that received 48 per cent of viewers vote was declared the winner.

''I got an e-mail today from the organisers about my victory'', Mr Patnaik said.

Artists from ten countries had taken part in the competition held in Hamburg from July 25 to September 9.

In the e-mail the organisers said the details shown in Patnaik's creation such as fish earrings, shell chains or small maritime organisms surprised the viewers and they voted him to win the prize.

Simo Baallal Jacobsen of Morocco won the second place with 12 per cent votes and Ruslan Korovkov of Bulgaria secured the third position with 10 per cent of viewers vote.
