Bhubaneswar, Sep 2: The Orissa government has decided to regularise unauthorised constructions undertaken within the Bhubaneswar Development Authority Area(BDA) here.

Official sources here today said that the state Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave its assent to ''Amnesty scheme'' for the purpose yesterday.

Earlier, the Amnesty Scheme, an opportunity for those having title deed and records of rights to correct the violations, was approved by the BDA.

Addressing newspersons here, Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy said the scheme would be applicable only to the unauthorised constructions undertaken prior to the notification of the scheme in the gazette.

The scheme would not be applicable to constructions on encroached government land, public places and those lands whose status has not converted to non-agricultural land. The scheme would be operational for a period of six months from the date of notifications.

A compounding fee of Rs 35 per square feet would be charged for regularising the constructions undertaken by violating the approved plan for residential purposes other than group housing, while the charges would be Rs 100 per square feet for commercial institutions, industrial, group housing and other constructions.

The compounding charge for residential buildings constructed without approved plan was fixed at Rs 50 per square feet and Rs 200 per square feet for group housing, commercial, institutions and industrial constructions.
