Police recovers 3.1 quintal poppy husk in HP
Una, Sep 2 (UNI) In one of the biggest hauls under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) Act, the Himachal Pradesh Police today recovered 3.1 quintals of poppy husk from the godown of a Kshetran resident in the Santoshgarh constituency of Una district.
The police said, acting on a tip off, a police party made a pre-dawn raid at the premises of Ranjit Singh, alias Jodha, resident of Laluwal village of Kshetran panchayat in the district and on detailed search of the wheat straw godown, unearthed underground storage dumps of the narcotic substance.
The total weight of poppy husk recovered from two underground drums was three quintals, 11 kg and 600 grams. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, they said.
Singh wields considerable political influence and muscle power and was one of the king pins supplying poppy husk to petty vendors in the area, they said, adding that the accused has been arrested.
