New Zealand Education's fair in Mumbai on September 8

Mumbai, Sep 2 (UNI) In an attempt to bring world class education to India, New Zealand Education will hold a fair at the Hilton Towers in Mumbai on September 8, where representatives from over 20 educational institutions of New Zealand will be present to counsel parents and aspiring students.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, Trade Commissioner Paul Vaughan said, ''Today, New Zealand Universities are driving the innovation in the education arena. It is helping students to meet the needs of the globalized marketplace through an education that endows, harnesses and polishes skills, teaches how to innovate in thinking and helps build international networks.'' New Zealand bases its education programmes and degrees on the world's most recognized and accredited education system --the British system. One is taught in an English speaking environment and qualifies with a quality, internationally recognized degree. New Zealand offers students the most prestigious education system in the world without the expense of living in the northern hemisphere.

This is further enhanced by the New Zealand Government administered 'Code of Practice' for the pastoral care of international students.

Over 1,200 institutions are signatories to the code, which is designed to ensure that a consistent, high standard of pastoral care is provided to all international students studying in New Zealand.

Some of the other benefits that International students can avail of include --eligible students can apply to work up to 20 hours in any given week during the academic year, students undertaking a course of 12 months or more may work, full-time over vacations and international students, who have graduated from a course in New Zealand will gain points under the Skilled Migrant Category and can apply for a six-month open work permit.
