ISKCON to celebrate 'Janmastami' in temple town

Tirupati, Sep 2 (UNI) The city unit International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) would celebrate 'Janmastami', marking the birth of Lord Krishna in the Sri Radha Govinda temple from tomorrow, ISKCON President Revathi Ramandas said here.

At a press conference, he said the three-day celebrations would begin with bhajans by devotees tomorrow. During the festival, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) would also conduct cultural programmes in the temple town.

On the second day, Maha Shankhabhishekam' for Sri Radha Govinda would also be conducted in all temples across the country to mark the occasion. Hundreds of devotees and youths were expected to participate in the temple festivities, he said.

On the concluding day, there will be lectures to mark the 111th appearance day of Sirla Prabhupada, founder of the ISKCON and provide free food to the devotees, he added.
