Cow breeds in the country need to be protected: BJP

Kanpur, Sep 2 (UNI) Expressing concern on the decreasing number of cow breeds in the country, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today appealed to the government for their protection.

Senior BJP leader and MP Kalraj Mishra told UNI here '' there were 60 cow breeds at the time of Independence, but hardly 30 are left now.'' ''The cow slaughter should be banned and strict action should be taken against those involved in the crime.'' Besides, milk products should be supplied in the markets.

Highlighting the importance of cows, Mr Mishra said the government should take necessary steps for their protection.
