AP to allocate Rs one lakh crore as loans to women
Hyderabad, Sep 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government had decided to allocate Rs one lakh crore to provide low interest rate loans to one crore women through Self Helf Groups.
Reviewing various women empowerment programmes with the officials concerned here, he urged the officials to prepare a blue print to provide loan of Rs one lakh each with 25 paise interest to every eligible woman.
As of now, 86.50 lakh women had benefitted from the new loan scheme, he said and called upon the women to make use of this scheme rather than availing loan from pawn brokers.
He said the government had provided life insurance scheme to 15 lakh women in the state under Indira Kranti Patham.
The government, under Grain Bank Scheme, had provided food security to 14 lakh women.
